Your ticket to the World Cup!

If you are planning on joining in on the greatest soccer showpiece in South Africa next year, then be sure to avoid ticket offers from anyone else, instead go directly to the fifa.com website - bogus offers are reportedly on the loose. Basically, you can apply online or by downloading a PDF Ticket Application Form, from now till 16 November 2009 your ticket application falls into the second sales period which began in May. There are two ticket versions comprising match tickets which allow access to individual matches (available for match 1 to 64), while team specific tickets allow you to follow matches of a particular team of your choice..

Built on the site previously occupied by the Kings Park Stadium, Moses Mabhida Stadium is also adjacent to the ABSA Stadium, the new stadium facility will incorporate a sporting museum, sporting institute, indoor arena and a transportation zone. The brand new 70,000 seater stadium will play host to eight FIFA World Cup matches that include a quarter final and a semi-final.

Akon's SA World Cup after parties!

Do you like your crazed soccer World Cup moments topped up with some serious after match partying?, then the 2010 WC finals will give you something to smile about. A series of after parties are lined up and one of them will involve the Senegalese born US rapper Akon while Lady Gagga, Kanye West and P. Diddy are
also expected to grace the Cup events.

Trumpet troubles

Not a match in South Africa goes without the frenzied sounds of the distinctly loud vuvuzelas, this trumpet of choice is a beloved football accessory countrywide, and a natural must have if one is to be counted among SA's soccer faithfuls. However, this
same soccer loving community said their vuvuzelas are world acclaimed, but when the Europeans & others experienced them first hand at the Confederations Cup, they labelled them as 'notorius and disturbing', requests for banning them at next year's showpiece were forwarded to FIFA officials. FIFA promised to look into it, and this riled the vuvuzela fans who threatened to boycott the event if it were to happen - well talk of football dramas. And I say give South African fans a noisy break.

2010 Stadia taking shape

Stadiums earmarked for the FIFA 2010 World Cup are taking shape in time for next year's spectacle, much to the delight of FIFA venue inspectors.

Fifa 2010 hosts in action

The South African national team, known as Bafana Bafana (the boys) has been less than impressive especially with their recent six match losing streak, at the hands of Spain (twice), Brazil, Serbia, Germany, and the Republic of Ireland. And a win over minnows Madagascar did little to ease the nation's growing pains, ahead of a trip to Norway, whom they defeated at home earlier this year. The team is under the leadership of Brazilian mentor, Joel Santana who succeded his World Cup winning colleague, Carlos Alberto Parreira who quit citing family commitments.

Samba Magic!

Brazil in action against the United States are the most loved national team on the African continent. Their qualification added to the excitement with 262 odd days to the biggest sporting rendezvous on earth!!

Brazil are coming!!

The Samba Boys are in heat, they dispensed their bitter rivals Argentina to secure a return to the Rainbow Nation as favorites, following a triumphant Confederations Cup stint.

Fairytale trip for England fans

Congratulations are in order for powerhouse England on yet another splendid perfomance seeing them through to the last 32. The Pommie Army can now start making arrangements for a spellbound journey to Africa, and it awaits with open arms for the historic 2010 FIFA Rumble in the jungle. They will certainly arrive in a country that adores their team & home league, and can look forward to making many friends. However, local authorities will certainly hope they will be well behaved this time around, otherwise they can enjoy good local pubs, ghetto (ekasi) style waterholes, exquisite cuisine & hospitality. Local draught and other cocktails are renowned for their uncompromising wetting sting. Check out coverage of SA's clubs and entertainment scene coming soon.
